Dr. Puckett's research interests focus on the biostratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy of the northern Gulf Coastal Plain. He has studied and published on the taxonomy, paleoecology, and biostratigraphy of Upper Cretaceous Ostracoda and the biostratigraphy of planktonic foraminifera. For his Ph.D. dissertation research, Dr. Puckett won the 1993 University of Alabama Outstanding Research by a Doctoral Student Award. Other areas of research include Mississippian ostracode paleoecology, Recent foraminifera, and Miocene benthic foraminiferal biostratigraphy.
