University of Alabama Geology Field Course: GEO 495
Taos, New Mexico

28 to July 5, 2006
Grade:
Grades are based on maps, cross sections, and written
reports for each exercise listed below.
6 semester hours credit.
Prerequisites: Igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural
geology, and stratigraphy, sedimentology, or sedimentary petrology.
Transportation: Round trip transportation to New Mexico and
transportation in New Mexico is provided in University vans.
Lodging: Accommodation will be in the Austing Haus, a ski
lodge situated at an elevation of 9,000 feet in the Taos Ski Valley. About 12 days will be spent camping
during trips to the Albuquerque, Jemez Mountains, and Spanish Peaks-Raton
areas.

Food:
3 meals/ day are provided at the Austing Haus and included
in the field course fee. Students must purchase meals while camping.
