Research Interests
I am interested in
geoarchaeology specifically the way environment affected ancient
cultures. My primary research is the
use of modern pre-bomb Peruvian
mollusks as a proxy for upwelling using 14C. Geochemical 18O and
13C analysis will be conducted on the samples as proxies for
temperatures. After learning what the modern shells have to tell us,
that knowledge will be applied to ancient shells from archaeological
sites. So, ancient shells analysis would tell us more about past El
Niño’s events. Also, what Holocene’s conditions Pacific Ocean
had in Peru were ancient cultures existed.
