Philip E. LaMoreaux

Distinguished internationally-known hydrogeologist who has provided important leadership in the development of the environmental geosciences in the Department, State, Nation and the World. 1949 UA alumnus. Geologist and hydrologist for the US Geological Survey 1943-1961; appointed Chief of the Ground Water Branch, Washington, DC in 1959. Alabama State Geologist and Oil and Gas Board Supervisor 1961-1976. Adjunct Professor of Geology at UA 1961-1976. Founded P E LaMoreaux and Associates (PELA) geological and environmental consulting company in 1970.
